Medium-heavy trucks

A truck is a utility vehicle which is used for the transport of goods and freight. Trucks are mostly used for commercial purposes. A truck is in contrast to a tractor unit able to carry a trailer.

Trucks consist of a chassis, the engine, a driver’s cabin and a loading area on which the body is mounted. Trucks are categorized in small, medium-heavy and heavy trucks.

Medium-heavy trucks are designed for transporting loads from 7,5 to 12 tons. For trucks up to 12 tons there are different kinds of bodies. The application of these different models depends on the actual purpose.

One of the most common types of body constructions is the flatbed body. This one is very flexible and is suitable for the transport of many kinds of goods. The platform consists of a cargo area and tailboards which can be let down in order to unload the truck. This body can be fitted with a tipping mechanism, for example for the transport of bulk materials like sand or crop.

Depending on the transported load the flatbed body can be closed with a tarpaulin, for protecting the goods against weather influences. Tarpaulins are weather-resistant, durable, flexible applicable and easy to store.

Another important type of construction is the box body. A box body has solid walls and resembles a loaf pan. The box body is mounted fix with the chassis, but there are also exchangeable boxes which are called swap-bodies or containers. The box body consists of steel with walls out of timber or aluminum.

A special feature of the box body is the refrigerated trailer. This one is especially designed for the transport of groceries or for flower transports. The walls of this one are fitted with insulating layers, so that the temperature within the trailer can be set up on an exact degree.
