MAN truck models – stout utility vehicles out of German quality production

The MAN Truck & Bus AG belongs to the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge group and it is the biggest company within the MAN concern besides the MAN Diesel & Turbo and MAN Latin America. MAN has its headquarters in Munich. Here and in Salzgitter are the heavy truck series TGS and TGX in weight classes from 18 to 50 tons produced.
Further the company has a site in Cracow in Poland and in Steyr and Vienna in Austria. Here are light and medium heavy trucks produced up to 25 tons. Busses are produced in Plauen, Pose, Salzgitter and in Starachowice and coaches only in Ankara. The motors of the utility vehicle are designed in Nuremberg.
Besides trucks between 7,5 and 44 tons the company also produces heavy special vehicles with up to 250 tons total towing weight. The models TGL, TGM, TGX and TGS are trucks for long-distance traffic, traction traffic and distribution transport.

The model TGL was presented in spring of 2005 and is in the weight class between 7,5 and 12 tons. It has been already priced with the award “Truck of the year”. The vehicle has a low loading edge and a high payload, a very good maneuverability because the TGL has a short wheelbase. The TGL has a new front design which ensures a better aerodynamics the interior is very sophisticated. The drivers cabin is available in 4 variants, drivers cabin C, L, XL and with a double cabin. The TGL has a performance of 240-340 HP and is available with a 4- 6 cylinder common rail motor. The tonnage is 7,5-12 t with a wheel base of 3600-5550. The TGL is available in the variants chassis and tipper.
The MAN truck TGM is a medium heavy model. The TGM has a total weight of 13 to 26 tons and has a performance of 250 to 340 HP. The model is suitable for the medium heavy regional and nationwide distribution traffic. The TGM has the same drivers cabin variants as the TGL. The vehicle is available in the construction variants of chassis and tipper with a wheelbase of 4125 to 5425. TGM has a tonnage of 12-24 t. The ergonomic cockpit provides high comfort and anti-glare displays.

TGX is another model of the* MAN Truck & Bus AG*. The model is the successor of the TGA and was presented in 2007 for the first time. Further it has been priced with the “Truck of the year” for the 7th time in 2008. Beside technical innovations also the drivers cabin was refurbished. The interior noise level was decreased by 30% and depending on the construction variant this model is up to 120 lighter. This results in a lower diesel consumption. The TGX was generally designed for the traction traffic and long-distance traffic. The V8 motor with a 16,2 l cubic capacity the vehicle performs with up to 680 HP. The TGX is equipped with all necessary assistance systems. Furthermore the vehicle is available with tonnages of 18-28 t and a wheelbase of 3200-6800 and is produced as chassis and tractor.
The little brother of the TGX is the model TGS. This one begins with a performance of 320 HP and ends at 540 HP. The TGS is available in all kinds of wheel and drive formulae from 4×4 to 8×8. TGS has a tonnage fo 18 to 41 tons. THE TGS is suitable for traction traffic and distribution traffic. It has newest technology for energy efficiency at perofrmances of up tp 480 HP at Euro 6. The vehicle has a low own weight but with a maximum load capacity. The TGS is available in the construction variants of chassis, tractor and tipper with wheelbases of 3600-6700 and tonnages of 18-41 t.
